Stop dividing Americans

How is it that so many of those we have elected to Congress, whether senators or representatives, are hell-bent on creating legislation that pits one socioeconomic group against another? It’s unconscionable that we see efforts that force those on the lower end economically to make choices about health care which can bankrupt them, ruin any hope of happy retirement, or to choose suffering and early death in the waning years of life?

Affordable health care benefits rich and poor alike, makes for a stronger more productive workforce while offering hope to our children rewarding their dreams, and offers a fair chance for a good life well lived.

We, as a nation, are on a dangerous path if our political leadership forgets what should be a guiding principle in this democracy for all of us who have served our country, or who are serving today that, at our foundation: “The whole art of government consists in the art of being honest,” said Thomas Jefferson.

That to whom much is given, much is required, that we must be good stewards for all the people, not just a select few.
