Pocatello man drowns while rafting with family in Wyoming

Associated Press

JACKSON, Wyo. – An Idaho man who was rafting the Snake River with his family has drowned.

The Jackson Hole News and Guide reported 48-year-old Christopher J. Chapman died Saturday morning.

Lincoln County Coroner Michael Richins says Chapman was pronounced dead after being in the water for about an hour.

He was thrown from his raft by a rapid upstream from Big Kahuna. Witnesses say all but two people in Chapman’s group were thrown into the water when their raft folded.

Police said the other people thrown into the water were pulled back into the raft.

Chapman was a resident of Pocatello.
