National Night Out Against Crime comes to West Central on Tuesday

From staff reports

Spokane C.O.P.S. West, the West Central Neighborhood Council and Greenstone will co-host National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dutch Jake’s Park in the West Central neighborhood. The event centers on taking back the park, which has fallen into disrepair. Accordingly, the West Central Neighborhood Council allocated $45,000 for an updated look.

The park, dedicated in July 1976, just passed its 40-year anniversary, according to Spokane Historical, a public history project of Eastern Washington University. Jacob Goetz, the park’s namesake, was a “German-born mining tycoon … known for his generosity and sense of fun,” Spokane Historical said.
