A toddler was hospitalized Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in Coeur d’Alene.

Coeur d’Alene Police officers were called to an apartment complex lot at 692 W. Wilbur Ave. where life-saving measures had already begun for a 2-year-old girl who was struck by a vehicle, police said in a news release.

The girl was transported by Coeur d’Alene Fire Department to Kootenai Health hospital, and then was later airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. She is in critical but stable condition, police said.

Initial information indicated the driver of the vehicle didn’t see the girl in the parking lot, the release said. Police said the driver has been cooperative during the investigation.
