A man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a woman to death west of Airway Heights on Sunday morning.

At about 11:20 a.m., a woman, who has not been identified, called 911, reporting that she had been stabbed before the call was disconnected, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Spokane County sheriff’s deputies and Airway Heights police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 15600 block of West Highway 2 near Rambo Road, where they found the woman, unconscious and bleeding.

The woman’s roommate told deputies he heard arguing coming from her room but didn’t know she had been injured until he checked on her moments after she called 911, the release states.

The woman was provided medical attention, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office, authorities said.

Spokane County Major Crimes detectives arrested 59-year-old Daniel T. Love several hours later on suspicion of second-degree murder. He has been transported to Spokane County Jail.

Love was charged with fourth-degree assault in 2010, but the charges were dropped in 2012 before it went to trial. He has no prior felony convictions.
