Recaps for the Seattle Mariners top affiliates for Tuesday provided by team releases and wire reports.

El Paso 3, Tacoma (AAA) 1

EL PASO, Texas – Rafael Ortega hit a solo home run in the first inning, leading the El Paso Chihuahuas (31-34) to a 3-1 win over the Tacoma Rainiers (35-28) on Tuesday.

Adam Cimber got Zach Shank to fly out with runners on second and third to end the game for his first save of the season.

The home run by Ortega gave the Chihuahuas a 1-0 lead.

After El Paso added two runs, the Rainiers cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Ryan Jackson hit an RBI double, bringing home Shank.

El Paso right-hander Andre Rienzo (3-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on just four hits over six innings. Opposing starter Rob Whalen (0-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after allowing three runs and six hits over six innings.

Arkansas (AA) 11, NW Arkansas 4

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Tyler Marlette hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, and Dylan Unsworth allowed just five hits over seven innings as the Arkansas Travelers (30-33) topped the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (32-31) 11-4 on Tuesday.

The grand slam by Marlette scored Ian Miller, Joey Wong, and Dario Pizzano to give the Travelers a 9-2 lead.

Unsworth (5-5) allowed two runs while striking out one to pick up the win.

Corey Ray (4-4) went 2 2/3 innings, allowing five runs and five hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out two and walked two.

Despite the loss, NW Arkansas is 8-4 against Arkansas this season.

San Jose 8, Modesto (High-A) 3

MODESTO, Calif. – Aramis Garcia doubled and singled twice, driving in a run and also scoring one as the San Jose Giants (29-36) beat the Modesto Nuts (35-30) 8-3 on Tuesday.

Jonah Arenado doubled and singled twice with three RBIs and a pair of runs for San Jose.

Modesto cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth after Gianfranco Wawoe hit a sacrifice fly and Joey Curletta hit an RBI double.

The Giants extended their lead in the seventh inning when Arenado hit a two-run single.

San Jose southpaw Mark Reyes (3-8) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Nick Neidert (5-3) took the loss in the California League game after giving up four runs and nine hits over five innings.

Curletta doubled twice, also stealing a base for the Nuts.

Clinton (Low-A) 6, Beloit 3

CLINTON, Iowa – Robert Dugger allowed just four hits over six innings, leading the Clinton LumberKings (28-34) over the Beloit Snappers (31-33) in a 6-3 win on Tuesday.

Dugger (3-1) allowed two runs while striking out four to get the win.

Down 2-0 in the fifth, Beloit tied the game when Collin Theroux hit a two-run home run.

The LumberKings went out in front in the sixth inning when Bryson Brigman hit a solo home run.

The LumberKings later tacked on three runs in the eighth when Brigman scored on a wild pitch and Gareth Morgan hit a two-run single to secure the victory.

Joseph Camacho (0-1) went two innings, allowing one run and one hit while walking one in the Midwest League game.
