Coeur d’Alene trustees select interim superintendent

Stan Olson (Stan Olson)

The Coeur d’Alene School district has chosen an interim superintendent.

Stanley Olson will lead the school district for one year, while the board of trustees searches for a permanent replacement.

According to his one-year contract Olson will be paid $133,000. His first day will be on July 1.

Most recently Olson worked for Silverback Learning Solutions, a Southern Idaho-based company that develops and distributes education technology nationwide. Before that, Olson was superintendent for the Boise School District and the Natrona County School District in Wyoming. He earned a doctor of education degree in educational leadership from Western Michigan University.

“Dr. Olson stood out to us based on his wealth of knowledge and experience in public school administration, including managing over $100 million in voter-approved bonds to pay for new and improved schools in the Boise School District. He’s the right choice during this time of transition for our school district,” said Board Chairman Casey Morrisroe in a news release.

Olson replaces Matt Handelman, who resigned in April.
