Congrats to Ferris musicians

I recently sat in the Paul Brueggemeier Auditorium at Ferris High School and thrilled to the performances of amazing young musicians. They had just returned from a trip to San Francisco, where they took part in a musical competition. On display where the many large trophies and an equal number of gold first place plaques they had been awarded. And now, a packed auditorium was witnessing why they had done so well.

One group after another, from concert orchestra to choirs to the chamber orchestra (my favorite), garnered wild applause culminating in a standing ovation and shouts of acclaim. This reaction was not because the audience was made up of family and friends. They earned our appreciation. The fine teaching staff of Ben Brueggemeier, Barbara Tappa and Chris Ehrlich and others can take pride. I just thought this stunning success deserved recognition.

Rock on, Ferris!
