Mariners Notes

  • OF Ben Gamel boasts a .344 average this season which would lead the American League if he had the plate appearances to qualify. Gamel has played in 49 games since being recalled on April 26 and has 212 plate appearances this season. • OF Mitch Haniger has reached safely (via hit or walk) in 28 of the 29 games he has played in this year. He’s had at least one hit in 23 games and reached via walk in another five games.
  • The Mariners outfield leads the Majors in defensive runs saved with 29 through the first 72 games this season, acc’d to Fangraphs.
  • C Mike Zunino has 30 RBI this year, fifth most on the club despite appearing in only 47 games. The 30 RBI this season include 18 with two outs – he’s second on the club in two-out RBI behind Nelson Cruz’ 19.
