Street preachers ruin events

The Pride Parade was a really neat celebration of how diverse our human race can be. It gives us an opportunity to gather and embrace all of humanity. Unfortunately, the hate-filled group of “Street Preachers” came once again to verbally and emotionally abuse those attending. A group of people were hiding behind Bible verses, conveniently forgetting to actually practice one of the two commandments that Jesus explicitly said were the most important: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:31.

The preachers spew vile, filthy insults and accusations against participants while quoting the Bible on a megaphone. The volume is too loud to block out. There are young LGBT teens attending this celebration and they hear and take to heart these poisonous words. These very vulnerable teens desperately need support not more abuse. The remarks are so sick that I would be ashamed to repeat them in front of even the most hardened criminals, yet we continue to allow these so-called preachers to attack our tender youth at this loving, happy event.

When is Spokane (a compassionate city?) going to stand up and insist that these markedly disturbing individuals be barred from attending the Pride Parade?
