Knight Boat Docks buys pontoon dock manufacturer in Cusick

From staff reports

Knight Boat Docks has acquired S-K Marine, a pontoon dock manufacturer based in Cusick, Washington.

All of S-K Marine’s full-time employees will be offered jobs with Knight Boat Docks, as Knight moves the manufacturing operations to its Deer Park plant.

Norm Haikkila founded S-K Marine in 1975 as a pontoon boat manufacturer. His father, an engineer, designed the machinery used to make the boats, which S-K built for nearly a decade. After discovering that the same pontoon floats could be used for docks, Haikkila shifted the company’s focuses to dock manufacturing.

Adding pontoon docks helps diversify Knight’s product range, said Doug Knight, Knight Boat Docks’ president, in a news release. The docks will continue to be sold under the S-K Marine brand.

“They’re solid, very stable and perform particularly well in current,” he said in the release.

Knight sells marina-grade commercial docks and EZ-Dock products in the Pacific Northwest, parts of the West, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.
