Train smashes flatbed trailer near Careywood

A train reportedly cut a flatbed trailer in half near Careywood, Idaho, on Wednesday afternoon when the truck driver failed to stop at the crossing.

Gerrit L. Ten Kley, 63, was driving across the tracks near the intersection of Edgemere Cutoff Road and Vay Road around 3:20 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the railroad crossing, according to the Idaho State Police. A southbound train hit the trailer and went through it.

Ten Kley was wearing his seat belt and was not injured. The intersection was closed for several hours.
