WASHINGTON – If the White House is at war with the news media, it looks as though the fourth estate has an A-list ally in the fight: Actor Tom Hanks, who delivered a fancy new espresso machine to the White House press gallery on Thursday.

Hanks had previously supplied coffee makers for the small kitchen area of the gallery, but the latest one had apparently gone kaput. The replacement arrived in a large cardboard box along with a note of encouragement. “Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Especially the Truth part,” it read above the actor’s signature.
