Gonzaga and Cal split pair of baseball games
Gonzaga scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning to take the lead and added four more in the eighth to beat California 8-3 in the completion of a suspended game before losing the regularly scheduled second game 9-5 on Sunday in Berkeley, California.
Parker Price walked and eventually scored on a wild pitch and Sam Brown, aboard after being hit by a pitch, scored the go-ahead run on a single by Justin Jacobs.
Jeff Bohling and Tyler Frost each had two RBIs. Justin Vernia (2-1) went six innings on Saturday and got the win with Calvin LaBrun throwing the three innings on Sunday for his first save.
Casey Legumina (0-2) gave up 12 hits and eight runs over six innings in getting the loss in the second game. Jacobs and Frost homered.
