Few picks up a few more coaching awards

Gonzaga’s Mark Few on Tuesday was honored as USA Today’s Coach of the Year and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) District IX Coach of the Year.

Few was named Coach of the Year by NBCsports.com on Monday and he’s a semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy Coach of the Year. He has led Gonzaga to a 31-1 record, the Zags’ 10th straight season with at least 25 wins and third with at least 30 wins.

Gonzaga junior guard Nigel Williams-Goss and senior center Przemek Karnowski were selected to the USBWA District IX Team.

Williams-Goss leads Gonzaga in scoring (16.7 points per game), assists (4.7) and steals (1.6). Karnowski is averaging 12.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He ranks third in the WCC in shooting at 60.6 percent from the field.
