Teleconference a bust

Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers tried to host a last-minute teleconference to satisfy her constituents requests to be heard. First the wrong code was sent to the few who saw the invitation released that same morning. Ten minutes later, people who happened to look back at their email received the replacement code. All calls were vetted and were made to give detailed information before being allowed to speak. Despite this, they managed to mix up most people’s names.

The congresswoman’s answers were frequently awkward and evasive. One woman cited numbers on the amount of uninsured falling by 60 percent in Washington state. The congresswoman’s response? “I don’t agree with your facts.” There was no opportunity to ask clarifying questions. This wasn’t a dialogue; it was a monologue.

Then after a question about conflicts of interest, the technology broke down and the call ended abruptly. It is time for her reign over the Fifth District to end abruptly as well.
