Venue can’t handle concerts
Let me start by saying there was an amazing concert with Sir Elton John and his band on March 5. Never thought I would ever see him in person. What an honor, he did not disappoint us.
We purchased tickets for this concert in December, an unbelievable chance to see him perform. We had dinner downtown, thinking arriving 45 minutes before the concert, scheduled for 8 p.m., would give us plenty of time. Turns out, we were stuck in traffic to the arena and blocked from entering arena parking. We finally decided to pay $20 at a side venue so that we could finally park and run a block to the arena.
We couldn’t believe there was a long line to get into the arena even though we all had tickets (everyone in line). The line wound around from the entrance to the sidewalk in front. Once we got in, we ran to our seating section to find the band into the second song. What a disappointment to miss the opening of the concert due to the arena mismanagement.
This is a terrible reflection on Spokane that we cannot handle a sold-out concert with the professionalism of a larger city like Seattle. This crowd, with people and parking, should have been anticipated by the arena personnel.
