OLYMPIA – Gov. Jay Inslee will discuss one of his favorite topics, global climate change, in front of a global audience Thursday: The United Nations.

Inslee will talk about the efforts by Washington, Oregon and California to be part of a global fight against climate change and for sustainable development. He will participate in a panel with the title “Stocktaking on Climate – Ambition and Action.” The panel will include government officias from France, Fiji and Saudi Arabia.

Since being elected governor, Inslee has been an advocate for Washington to do more to reduce carbon emissions and expand alternative energy sources. His efforts to persuade the Legislature to enact a carbon tax have so far been unsuccessful, but it is part of his proposed 2017-19 budget.

On Friday, he’ll address another international group on the other side of the United States, the World Economic Forum in San Francisco. He’s scheduled to speak at the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution to business executives, academics an international economic leaders about the education, innovation and the human connection.
