Police arrested two convicted felons after finding six stolen guns and 10,000 rounds of ammunition in a downtown Spokane motel room.

Everything started with a report of a vehicle prowling in a parking garage at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center early Tuesday morning. Several guns were stolen from a parked car and the male and female suspects reportedly fled in a stolen truck, according to a Spokane Police Department news release.

Police found the stolen truck near Second Avenue and Division Street and were able to trace the couple to a room at the Downtowner Motel. A search warrant was obtained and police found the cache of ammunition in the room in addition to a .40 caliber pistol, two .22 caliber rifles, a .22 caliber revolver, a .22 caliber derringer and a .22 caliber pistol. A .40 caliber pistol was also found inside the stolen truck, police said.

Nine time convicted felon Joseph W. Thomas, 37, and 25-year-old Yasmine R. Garrett, a four-time convicted felon, were both arrested on a single charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Additional charges were added and both now face a dozen criminal charges that include multiple counts of theft of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and vehicle prowling.

Garrett had initially been released on her own recognizance after her first appearance in court Tuesday but was arrested on the new charges Thursday morning.
