Ormsby for Congress

Eastern Washington Democrats should consider former U.S. Attorney Michael Ormsby as a replacement for Cathy McMorris Rodgers. He has name recognition, is a respected lawyer and a former prosecutor, has been federally vetted and is currently unemployed.

Thanks to Trump’s attorney general, Jeff Sessions, asking for the resignations of all Obama-era federal prosecutors, Ormsby was asked to resign. So what’s in store for him now? My hope is that he has one year and eight months to actively campaign to become our new congressman.

I know it is well early of the November 2018 election, but in past years we have heard little to nothing of any of the Democrat’s nominees until just prior to the election. But if he can get his name out early and often, maybe the Democratic National Committee would consider providing adequate campaign funds, something that has not been done in the past.

He has shown that he has the best interests of Eastern Washington constituents with his work as federal prosecutor, even taking on cases that are politically unpopular. Maybe the next time CMR is too fearful of holding a town hall meeting, Orsmby can present a Democratic town hall meeting similar to the meeting that state Sen. Baumgartner held.
