Keep Daylight Saving Time

Let’s keep Daylight Saving Time. There seems to be an effort to get rid of daylight saving time in the news media. The March 12 article listed only economic reasons for why it didn’t save energy or do much to stimulate the economy. But what about the benefit to lots of working people in getting out and doing recreation, sports activities, gardening, going for walks, etc., before it gets dark after work?

Parents don’t want kids playing outside after dark, some places in our cities may not be safe to be out walking after dark, so more daylight after work gives us more safe options for personal enjoyment.

If we didn’t have daylight saving time, how many people would get up at 4:30 a.m. to enjoy the daylight? My guess is very few. Adjusting our clocks twice a year is a small price to pay for the benefits of the extra evening daylight time.
