Silver Valley waste respository topic of April 5 meeting

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting public comments on its plans to rebuild a waste repository in the Canyon Creek area, near Wallace.

EPA is proposing to reconstruct the repository, address leaking contaminants and triple its size.

Waste from cleanup of soil tainted with mine waste would be placed into the respository.

An open house on the project is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. April 5 at the Wallace Inn, 100 Front St., Wallace.
