Man suspected of pointing sawed-off shotgun at deputy arrested in Spokane Valley

From staff reports

A man suspected of car prowling pointed a sawed-off shotgun at a Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy Monday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

A deputy went to the 15800-block of East Valleyway in Spokane Valley about 10 a.m. on a report of two men seen car prowling, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The deputy saw two suspects matching a description of the prowlers and exited his car. One of the men “moved toward him” while the other pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the deputy, the news release said. The deputy drew his gun and worked to get cover. The man appeared to trip, dropped the gun and was arrested.

The second man ran from the scene but was later captured by deputies with assistance from a K9.

Names of the suspects have not been released.
