Area roundup: Ciera Min leads Gonzaga women’s golf at Kapalua

Ciera Min shot a final round 1-under par 71 and finished tied for 16th to lead Gonzaga at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic on The Bay Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii, on Wednesday.

Min finished 6-over 222, one shot ahead of teammate Bianca Pagdanganan, who shot even-par 72 in the final round.

After going 2-over on the front, Min exploded on the back with five birdies – including four of the last five holes – for her team-leading seventh round under par this season. Pagdanganan finished birdied nine, 10, and 15 to equalize her three bogeys and finish in a tie for 18th.

Gonzaga jumped three spots to end up 43-over 292 and in a tie for seventh place.

UCLA won the team title and Lilia Vu of the Bruins ran away at 12-under 204, seven strokes ahead of second place finished Monica Vaughn of Arizona State.

—Idaho’s Danika Palm earned Big Sky Conference weekly honors after a strong performance at the San Diego State march Mayhem match play event last week. Palm won her match 1UP after being down three with four holes to play.
