Recaps for the Seattle Mariners top affiliates for Thursday night provided by team releases.

Tacoma (AAA) 8, Las Vegas 1

LAS VEGAS – Mike Freeman had three hits and three RBI, and Sam Gaviglio allowed just three hits over 7 2/3 innings as the Tacoma Rainiers (17-9) topped the Las Vegas 51s (13-15) 8-1 on Thursday.

Gaviglio (2-3) allowed one run while striking out five to get the win.

Down 1-0, the Rainiers took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning. Freeman and D.J. Peterson both drove in runs en route to the one-run lead.

The Rainiers later scored three runs in the fifth and eighth innings to complete the blowout. In the fifth, Freeman drove in two runs and Peterson drove in one, while Leonys Martin drove in two runs and Seth Mejias-Brean drove in one in the eighth.

Kevin McGowan (1-1) went 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and five hits in the Pacific Coast League game. He also struck out three and walked one.

Tulsa 1-3, Arkansas 3-1 (7)

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Edwin Rios hit two home runs as the Tulsa Drillers (11-15) defeated the Arkansas Travelers (12-14) 3-1 in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday.

Lindsey Caughel tossed a two-hit complete game, leading the Travelers to a 3-1 win over the Drillers in the first game.

Caughel (2-2) allowed one run while striking out four and walking one to get the win.

In the second game, Yaisel Sierra got Marcus Littlewood to ground out with a runner on third to end the game for his second save of the season.

Tulsa started the scoring in the first inning when Rios hit a two-run home run.

The Travelers cut into the deficit in the third inning when Chuck Taylor hit an RBI double, bringing home Ian Miller.

The Drillers tacked on another run in the fifth when Rios hit a solo home run.

Karch Kowalczyk (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Arkansas starter Andrew Moore (1-2) took the loss in the Texas League game.

Taylor reached base three times for the Travelers.

Modesto 4, Lake Elsinore 1

MODESTO, Calif. – Joey Curletta hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Modesto Nuts (17-11) to a 4-1 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm (13-15) on Thursday.

The home run by Curletta scored Jordan Cowan and Eric Filia to break a scoreless tie.

After Modesto added a run in the sixth when Donnie Walton scored on a stolen base, the Storm cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Yuniet Flores hit an RBI double, driving in Chris Baker.

Modesto starter Anthony Misiewicz (1-1) picked up the win after allowing just one hit over seven scoreless innings. Opposing starter Jean Cosme (0-3) took the loss in the California League game after allowing three runs and six hits over five innings.

West Michigan 9, Clinton 3

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – Blaise Salter scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning, leading the West Michigan Whitecaps (17-10) to a 9-3 win over the Clinton LumberKings (10-15) on Thursday.

The play came in the midst of an eight-run inning and gave the Whitecaps a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning, West Michigan scored on three more plays, including a two-run double by Anthony Pereira.

Jacob Robson doubled and singled three times, driving home two runs for West Michigan.

Locke St. John (1-0) got the win in relief while Clinton starter Nick Wells (0-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game.
