Bonsai Bistro closes

Bonsai Bistro in Coeur d’Alene has closed.

The restaurant, part of the Coeur d’Alene Resort and Hagadone Hospitality Group, specialized in Pan-Asian cuisine and featured table seating and an indoor koi pond.

Menu items included pork pot stickers, Mongolian beef, fried rice, sweet-and-sour pork, pad thai and sushi, among other items.

The restaurant’s outgoing phone message encourages would-be guests to dine at other Hagadone Hospitality restaurants.

“We just took a look at several factors and felt it was in our best interest to do this,” Jerry Jaeger, president of Hagadone Hospitality Co., told the Coeur d’Alene Press, which is also owned by Hagadone.

“Everyone has been told if they’d like to stay with the company, we’ll get a job for them at one of the properties, and we’re doing that right now,” Jaeger also told the Coeur d’Alene newspaper Tuesday.

Bonsai Bistro was at 101 E. Sherman Ave. in Couer d’Alene. The company will likely find another purpose for the building. But, Jaeger said in the Coeur d’Alene newspaper Tuesday, “We’re going to study our options and take our time.”
