Prep softball roundup: Central Valley advances in 4A with win over Chiawana

Kelsey Gumm threw a complete game with 13 strikeouts and allowed only four hits and Central Valley (16-5) defeated visiting Chiawana 2-1 in a 4A subregional on Tuesday.

Central Valley advances to a semifinal game on Friday, while Chiawana plays in a loser-out game.

University 4, Hanford 1: Emily Stannard had three hits and the Titans (18-2) knocked off the visiting Falcons.

Kirsten Anstrom added a pair of hits and pitched a complete game.

U-Hi advances against Richland in a semifinal game on Friday.

Richland 10, Lewis and Clark 0: Kaylie Northrop tossed a three-hit shutout and the Bombers topped the visiting Tigers (10-10).

Lewis and Clark faces Hanford in a loser-out game on Friday.

District 7 2B

Northwest Christian 8, Liberty 0: Mattea Nelson threw a one-hit shutout to stay undefeated for her 21st win of the season and the Crusaders (21-0) defeated the visiting Lancers (8-12) at Franklin Park.

Jordan Rabe went 2 for 2 with a triple and four RBIs.

Northwest Christian advances to a district semifinal game on May 20 against Davenport

Liberty beat Wilbur-Creston 18-3 in a loser-out first round game earlier in the day. The Lancers play next in a loser-out game on May 15.

Kettle Falls 13, Asotin 3: Kendall Elliot allowed one hit over six innings and the Bulldogs (14-5) beat the Panthers (2-9) at Franklin Park.

Kettle Falls advances to the district semifinals against Springdale on May 20.

Kennedy McKern had two hits with two RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Springdale 15, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 3: Brooklyn Schuger scattered three hits and allowed three runs to lead the Chargers (9-8) over the Broncos (10-7) at Franklin Park.

Sierra Sanchez went 3 for 3 and Mekenzie Acevedo drove in three runs.

Springdale advances to a district semifinals on May 20. LRS will play in a loser-out game on Saturday.

In an early game, Springdale beat Tekoa-Rosalia. T-R plays in a loser-out game on Saturday.

Davenport 13, Colfax 6: Grace Lilje drove in seven runs on three hits and the Gorillas (11-9) defeated the Bulldogs (11-8) at Franklin Park.

Davenport faces Northwest Christian in a semifinal game on May 20. Colfax faces Tekoa-Rosalia in a loser-out game on Saturday.

In an early game, Davenport knocked off Reardan. Reardan plays LRS in a loser-out game on Saturday.

1B regional qualifier

Cusick 18, Waitsburg 8: Allison Nomee had three hits and drove in two as the Panthers (5-12) defeated Waitsburg-Prescott in the “pig tail” regional play-in game in Creston.

Rylee Brown smashed a two-run home run for Cusick.

Cusick moves on to the District 5/6 & 7/9 1B regional on Saturday against Inchelium at Waterfront Park in Medical Lake.

Idaho 5A Region I

Top-seeded Lake City (16-1) advanced to state, beating Coeur d’Alene (10-8) 3-2 at Lake City.

Coeur d’Alene faces Lewiston on Thursday in a loser-out, with the winner moving on to play-in game to state.

Lewiston (3-11) eliminated Post Falls (8-10) 7-3 in the loser bracket at Coeur d’Alene HS to advance to the runner-up game.

In the first round matchups earlier in the day, top-seeded Lake City beat No. 4 Lewiston 8-2 at Lake City, while second-seeded Coeur d’Alene knocked off No. 3 Post Falls 7-4 at Ramsey Park.
