Prep baseball roundup: McKabe Cottrell tosses shutout and Freeman beats Deer Park in district title game

McKabe Cottrell struck out 11 and scattered two hits and Freeman (18-2) shut out visiting Deer Park (13-6) 10-0 in the District 7 1A title game at Avista Stadium on Friday.

The Scotties are No. 1 seed to the state tournament in Moses Lake and will face a District 5 opponent. Deer Park plays in a crossover game against Okanogan, the Caribou Trail League second place team game, for state berth on Tuesday.

Desmond Parisotto went 2 for 3 with two runs and Keegen Cottrell won the game with an RBI double in the sixth inning to initiate the 10-run rule.

Colville 8, Chewelah 2: Brayden Flugel scattered a pair of hits, struck out six and drove in two runs to lead Colville (9-10) over Chewelah (12-8) 8-2 in the District 7 1A loser-out third-place game at Avista Stadium.

Reilly Harbolt came in and struck out two to close the final frame. Tayeb Wilson collected two RBIs on two doubles.

Colville advances to play Cashmere in a regional loser-out crossover game on Tuesday for a shot at the state tournament.
