Recaps for the Seattle Mariners top affiliates for Saturday provided by team releases and wire reports.

Tacoma (AAA) 8, Round Rock 1

TACOMA, Wash. – Boog Powell doubled and singled twice, scoring four runs as the Tacoma Rainiers (22-12) beat the Round Rock Express (15-21) 8-1 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Daniel Vogelbach homered and singled with four RBIs and two runs for Tacoma.

Tacoma started the scoring in the first inning when Vogelbach hit an RBI single to score Powell.

The Rainiers later scored in four additional innings to punctuate the blowout, including three runs in the fifth.

Nick Hagadone (1-1) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while Round Rock starter Dillon Gee (1-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

The teams split the doubleheader after Round Rock won the first game 5-0.

Arkansas (AA) 9, Springfield 1

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Tyler Herb struck out 10 over 8 1/3 innings, leading the Arkansas Travelers (13-21) over the Springfield Cardinals (18-15) in a 9-1 win on Saturday.

Herb (1-2) allowed one run and four hits while walking one to get the win.

Arkansas started the scoring in the first inning when Tyler Marlette hit a two-run single.

The Travelers later scored in three additional innings to put the game out of reach, including three runs in the fifth.

Sandy Alcantara (2-3) went five innings, allowing seven runs and eight hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out four and walked four.

For the Cardinals, Dickie Joe Thon homered and singled.

Modesto (High-A) 2, Lake Elsinore 1

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – Logan Taylor doubled and singled twice, and Nick Neidert struck out 10 hitters over six innings as the Modesto Nuts topped the Lake Elsinore Storm 2-1 on Saturday.

Matt Walker got Ruddy Giron to fly out with a runner on first to end the game for his third save of the season.

Neidert (3-0) picked up the win after he allowed one run and three hits.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Lake Elsinore tied the game when Michael Gettys hit an RBI single, scoring Edwin Moreno.

The Nuts went out in front in the sixth inning when Taylor hit an RBI single, bringing home Ricky Eusebio.

Chris Huffman (1-3) went seven innings, allowing two runs and eight hits to take the tough loss in the California League game. He also struck out three and walked one.

Clinton (Low-A) 7, Great Lakes 4

CLINTON, Iowa – Anthony Jimenez tripled and singled, scoring two runs as the Clinton LumberKings defeated the Great Lakes Loons 7-4 on Saturday.

Bryson Brigman tripled and singled with a run and an RBI for Clinton.

Clinton took the lead in the first when it scored four runs, including a single by Gareth Morgan that scored Nick Thurman.

Following the big inning, the Loons cut into the deficit in the next half-inning when Steve Berman hit an RBI double, driving in Oneil Cruz.

The LumberKings later added single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory.

Clinton right-hander Brandon Miller (4-2) picked up the win after allowing two runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Willian Soto (4-1) took the loss in the Midwest League game after a rough outing in which he allowed five runs and 10 hits over four innings.

Cruz homered and singled, scoring three runs for the Loons.
