Need a job? City of Spokane touts major job fair on Wednesday

The Spokane Area Workforce Development Council is holding a job fair Wednesday at the Spokane Convention Center.

With over 110 employers attending, the job fair is intended for job seekers young and old looking for entry-level or senior positions, said Spokane Mayor David Condon at an announcement Monday morning.

Condon praised the county’s median household income of about $44,000, saying it was “the highest it’s been in 10 years.” But he also noted that the household survival budget for a family of four is about $51,000, leaving little room for personal spending.

“So while we’re closing that gap there is still obviously work to be done,” he said. “To continue the upward momentum of our median household income, the city of Spokane has partnered as a sponsor.”

In addition to employers across the county, Condon said the city is seeking qualified applicants at the fair.

“The city has placed an emphasis on attracting diverse candidates for our jobs here at the city,” he said. “And to help to identify other job opportunities around the city.”
