Recaps for the Seattle Mariners top affiliates for Thursday provided by team releases and wire reports.

Omaha 5, Tacoma (AAA) 0

PAPILLION, Neb. – Christian Binford and Malcom Culver combined for a shutout as the Omaha Storm Chasers (20-19) topped the Tacoma Rainiers (25-14) 5-0 in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday.

Binford (3-0) went six scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out five and walking three to get the win. Paul Paez (0-1) went four innings, allowing two runs and two hits in the Pacific Coast League game. He also struck out two and walked one.

In the bottom of the second, Omaha took the lead on a single by Bubba Starling that scored Frank Schwindel. The Storm Chasers then added three runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth. In the fifth, Garin Cecchini drove in two runs and Parker Morin drove in one, while Starling hit an RBI single in the sixth.

Starling singled three times, driving home two runs in the win.

The Rainiers were held off the scoreboard for the fifth time this season, while the Storm Chasers’ staff recorded their third shutout of the year.

The teams split the doubleheader after Tacoma won the first game 1-0.

Arkansas (AA) 7, NW Arkansas 3

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Kyle Waldrop homered and had three hits, driving in four, and Tyler Herb allowed just one run over seven innings as the Arkansas Travelers (15-24) beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (21-17) 7-3 on Thursday.

Herb (2-2) allowed seven hits while striking out seven to pick up the win.

Up 2-0 in the second, Arkansas extended its lead when Waldrop hit a two-run single.

The Travelers later added a run in the third and two in the fourth. In the third, Gianfranco Wawoe hit an RBI single, while Waldrop hit a solo home run in the fourth.

Corey Ray (3-3) went three innings, allowing five runs and eight hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out two and walked three.

For the Naturals, Ruben Sosa tripled, doubled and singled, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, NW Arkansas is 7-1 against Arkansas this season.

Modesto (High-A) 12, Lancaster 7

MODESTO, Calif. – Chris Mariscal hit a three-run home run and had three hits, driving in five, as the Modesto Nuts (23-18) exploded for a season-high nine extra-base hits in a 12-7 win over the Lancaster JetHawks (22-19) on Thursday.

Down 4-0, the Nuts tied it up with four runs in the first inning, including a two-run double by Jordan Cowan.

The Nuts took the lead for good in the second when Logan Taylor hit an RBI double, bringing home Braden Bishop.

Modesto starter Nick Neidert (4-0) picked up the win despite allowing four runs and seven hits over five innings. Opposing starter Trey Killian (5-1) took the loss in the California League game after a rough outing in which he allowed 10 runs and 11 hits over three innings. Bryan Bonnell pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his second save of the season.

Modesto hit a season-high eight doubles in its victory.

In the losing effort, Lancaster got contributions throughout its order, as five players collected at least two hits. Wes Rogers homered and singled, scoring two runs.

Wisconsin 2, Clinton (Low-A) 1

CLINTON, Iowa – Jahmai Jones tripled and doubled twice, scoring two runs as the Burlington Bees (12-24) topped the Clinton LumberKings (15-22) 8-5 on Thursday.

Brennon Lund tripled twice and singled with two RBIs for Burlington.

Burlington took the lead in the first when it scored five runs, including a two-run double by Sam McDonnell.

The Bees later added a run in the third and two in the fourth. In the third, Roberto Baldoquin hit an RBI double, while Jordan Zimmerman and Lund hit RBI triples in the fourth.

Burlington southpaw Nate Bertness (2-3) picked up the win after allowing two runs on four hits over five innings. Opposing starter Danny Garcia (2-4) took the loss in the Midwest League game after a rough outing in which he allowed eight runs and 11 hits over 3 1/3 innings.

Luis Rengifo singled twice, also stealing four bases for the LumberKings.

With the win, Burlington improved to 3-1 against Clinton this season.
