State prep softball roundup: Richland eliminates University in 4A regionals

Brandi Andrews and Addison Petit both hit home runs and Richland eliminated University (19-4) 14-7 in the 4A Greater Spokane League/Mid-Columbia Conference regional third-place game in Walla Walla.

Kirsten Anstrom went the distance in the circle for U-Hi and chipped in with three hits, including a double.

Richland claims the tourney’s second bid to state while University’s season comes to a close.

Walla Walla 5, University 3: Kamryn Coleman pitched a complete game and the Blue Devils advanced to the state tournament beating the Titans in the 4A regional title game.

Richland 6, Lewis and Clark 1: Brandi Andrews hit three home runs and pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and the Bombers eliminated the Tigers (12-11) in a 4A regional loser-out game.

Othello 7, West Valley 6: Domonique Martinez hit a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh and Othello eliminated the visiting Eagles (13-7) in a Great Northern League/Central Washington Athletic Conference 2A crossover.

Elle Hildahl was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and helped West Valley take a 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning before Othello mounted the comeback.

East Valley (Yakima) at Cheney: The other 2A crossover game was postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Monday at 2 p.m.

Lakeside 3, Omak 2: Megan Isayev hit a walk-off single and the Eagles (18-4) eliminated visiting Omak in a Northeast A/Caribou Trail League 1A crossover game.

Sam Padayo scored the winning run and went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and an RBI, while Shelby Claassen threw a complete game with 12 strikeouts.

Colville 9, Cascade 2: Gracie Schauls pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12 and the Indians (16-6) eliminated Cascade in a 1A crossover game at Rich Rice Field in Dryden.

Hayden Hartman led the Indians’ offense with three runs and three RBIs.

2B

Northwest Christian 12, Kettle Falls 2: Mattea Nelson allowed four hits and struck out five and the Cusaders (23-0) beat the Bulldogs (14-6) in the Northeast 2B District championship game at Franklin Park. Both teams advance to state.

Nelson added two RBIs. Faith Iverson drove in three runs while Jordan Rabe and Sydney Frampton had two RBIs apiece.

Northwest Christian 11, Davenport 6: Jordan Rabe hit a two-run home run and the Crusaders beat the Gorillas (13-10) in a District 7 2B semifinal game.

Mattea Nelson struck out five to run her record to 22-0. Rachel Wright went 2 for 2 with three RBIs.

Kettle Falls 10, Springdale 3: Kendall Elliott struck out seven, scattered five hits, allowed three runs and hit a two-run home run and the Bulldogs beat the Chargers in a District 7 2B semifinal game.

Springdale 8, Colfax 6: Brooklynn Schurger struck out three and scattered 10 hits as the Chargers (11-9) qualified for the State 2B tournament by eliminating the Bulldogs (13-10).

Hanna Ross doubled and singled for the state-bound Chargers, who took advantage of eight walks and rallied after trailing 5-1. Maddy Shrope had three singles for the Bulldogs (13-10).
