Localize Meals on Wheels

I read a letter awhile back about cutbacks to Meals on Wheels. Apparently, this person and far too many others feel the taxpayers must fund an entitlement. Many of these taxpayers are working extra jobs just to keep shelter and food in their family homes.

For a program like Meals on Wheels, it should be funded by the citizens of each county or city on a volunteer basis. I do not know our population in our city or county; but I do know it is growing. Let’s say 200,000 taxpayers gave $10 a month to Meals on Wheels. This would generate enough money to feed all our seniors and many more at least one meal a day (perhaps more meals).

Let the citizens of our city and county show the rest of our county what should be done for the hungry. Ten dollars each 30 days from us can help cure the hunger no one should experience.
