Driver of RV in rollover crash near Moses Lake in serious condition

 (Trooper Brian Moore / WSP)

The driver of an RV involved in a rollover collision on Interstate 90 near Moses Lake Monday remains in serious condition.

Troopers and medics were called to the scene four miles east of Moses Lake at about 12:45 p.m., where an RV that was towing an SUV had rolled in the median, said Trooper Brian Moore, spokesman for Washington State Patrol.

The 53-year-old driver who is from Bend, Oregon had been westbound and was driving erratically, Moore said. The RV drifted into the right shoulder before over-correcting and rolling, kicking up “a large amount of debris” which struck a truck headed eastbound. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The driver of the motorhome was airlifted to Confluence Health in Wenatchee with critical injuries. He was upgraded to serious condition sometime Tuesday, Moore said.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, Moore said. The 53-year-old is facing DUI charges.

Moore said in Central Washington, 50 collisions were recorded over the Memorial Day weekend, 21 of which were on I-90.
