Prep soccer: St. George’s girls, boys advance to state quarterfinals

Cambrie Rickard scored with 12 seconds left in the second overtime Friday and St. George’s edged visiting Northwest Christian 4-3 in the District 7 2B girls soccer championship match.

The Dragons earned the league’s sole berth to the State 2B/1B championship. The Dragons will meet the No. 2 team from District 5/6 in the quarterfinals next week.

Lydia Bergquist added two goals and an assist for St. George’s.

  • The District 8 4A title match, University at Central Valley, was postponed by snowy weather. The makeup game is scheduled for Monday with a time to be announced. The match will determine state seeding.

    Boys soccer

    St. George’s 3, Trout Lake/Glenwood 2 (OT): Mitchell Ward scored a pair of goals – including the game-tying goal in the second half and the winner in overtime – and the Dragons beat the host Mustangs in the District 7/9 2B title match to move on to the State 2B/1B quarterfinals.

    Cade Peplinski scored the first goal for St. George’s. Riley Alloway and Reece Painter each had goals for Trout Lake.

    The Dragons advance to the state quarterfinals, which will be held next week in Spokane against the No. 6 team from District 1/2/4.
