Texas Southern’s Demontrae Jefferson paces the Tigers

UPDATED: Thu., Nov. 9, 2017, 4:40 p.m.

The most intriguing matchup could be at point guard.

Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins, likely with help from his teammates, will try to keep 5-foot-7 speedster Demontrae Jefferson in check. The Tigers’ standout averaged 14.8 points per game last season as a freshman.

Jefferson poured in 27 points against Louisville a year ago but he made just 37.6 percent of his shots for the season. Silas Melson will probably see time defending Jefferson.

Another matchup to keep an eye on: GU’s Johnathan Williams against 7-foot-2 center Trayvon Reed, a transfer from Auburn.
