Police searching for two people accused of robbing convenience store in northeast Spokane

Police are looking for a man and a woman suspected of robbing a convenience store early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the Zip Trip store at 1503 E. Illinois Ave., northeast of Gonzaga University, at about 3:30 a.m., where witnesses reported a man and a woman entering the business and taking cash and merchandise, police said in a news release. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The man is described as being in his 30s, about 6 feet tall, with a heavy build and wearing a dark-colored jacket and blue jeans. The woman is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build and wearing a light-colored jacket and blue jeans. Both were described by witnesses as possibly being Native American.

The robbers apparently entered the store, demanded items from the clerk and left northbound through the parking lot with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
