Man who killed Anacortes taxi driver gets 22 years

Associated Press

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – A Washington state man who fatally shot a taxi driver has been sentenced to 22 years, four months in prison.

The Skagit Valley Herald reported that 32-year-old Solomona Fatu Luteru received the sentence Friday in Skagit County Superior Court.

Luteru last month pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree robbery in the March 2015 killing of 46-year-old taxi driver Lisamarie Eason of Anacortes.

Authorities say Luteru shot Eason not long after she picked him up in a taxi van at the Swinomish Casino and Lodge.

Police say that after several stops the van rolled into some bushes and Luteru was seen leaving the vehicle.

Police say Eason’s body was found inside the van with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
