Missing man found dead in North Idaho

A missing 73-year-old man was found dead Tuesday night off Highway 3 near the Kootenai and Benewah County border, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert R. Westbrook, who was reported missing Thursday afternoon, apparently drove off the roadway and crashed his vehicle 50 feet down an embankment.

He was found by an Idaho State Trooper.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
