Spokane County unemployment rate falls in October; strong job growth continues

Spokane County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent in October, continuing a trend of strong local job growth in 2017.

The county added 3,695 jobs between September and October, according to the Washington Employment Security Department.

Spokane County’s unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in September and 5.7 percent in October 2016.

In other Eastern Washington counties, unemployment rates for October were: Pend Oreille, 5.8 percent; Stevens, 5.7 percent; Ferry, 9.1 percent; Lincoln, 4.1 percent; Adams, 3.7 percent; and Whitman, 3.8 percent.
