Higher taxes for poor roads

Spokane County Roads are unsafe. On Nov. 6 at 6:30 in the morning enroute to work, many of us commuters encountered total negligence by the roads department to deal with winter conditions. Two of the main roads, Bigelow Gulch and Argonne were ice skating rinks along most of their length. There was no sign of plow trucks or de-icing equipment. Due to the country’s neglect, even driving at 25 mph commuters lost control of their vehicles.

We pay taxes that are continually increasing and should not have to deal with poor roads and improper treatment of winter hazards.

No more excuses. The county may say they have limited funds. Government needs to use the money they have more efficiently, just as we, the working people, have to do. How much did it cost the country to have law enforcement and emergency personnel respond to the numerous accidents? How much did it cost commuters for lost time, damages and injuries?

Government claims to be concerned with our safety but may be more interested in their budget. Our local government needs to focus on local issues. Everyone responsible for the deplorable condition of Bigelow Gulch and Argonne should be fired immediately and should never get re-elected.
