Politics and prayers

In answer to the Nov. 13 letter writer who felt president Trump is targeted by this paper:

The writer was impressed with a recent speech he made to our troops in Japan. I will concede when he does not go off script, but rather reads a prepared speech, he can sound presidential.

Thankfully, he has some good advisers. He just needs to listen to them.

The most disparaging news reported is generally a reiteration of something he has said, done or tweeted. He truly is his own “worst enemy.”

He was not my choice. However, that does not preclude me from continuing to respect the office of the presidency, which I do. My difficulty is garnering respect for the man currently occupying it. There is a difference.

I was taught that respect, trust, and honor are earned, not bestowed on a person because of position or wealth. Trump has yet to earn that from me.

Lastly, do not assume I am not praying for this president. I am. Fervently. More important, however, I am praying for this country, the world and our planet - all of which are I feel are at risk.
