The Salvation Army Spokane Corps has hired Kathy Kramer as director of development. Kramer comes to the Salvation Army from Christ Clinic, where she held the same position, and Daybreak Youth Services.

Education

Community Colleges of Spokane announced the faculty and staff awards given during the District Fall Convocation at Spokane Community College. William Marlowe received the first faculty emeritus award. Marlowe retired from Spokane Falls Community College’s drama department last year, but continues at the college as an adjunct faculty member. Recipients of the Exceptional Faculty Award are: Bradley Bleck, SFCC, English; Christopher Cary, SFCC, mathematics; Marie Cole, SFCC, allied health; Ira Gardner, SFCC, photography; Carol Harrington, SFCC, English; Polly McMahon, SFCC, social services/gerontology; Amy Wolfsen-Norton, SFCC, communication; Andy Dodson, SCC, aviation maintenance; Andrew Gebhart, SCC, ESL; and Stasia Warren, SCC, nursing. Winners of the Saling Awards for Excellence are: Guillermo Espinosa, SCC, multicultural student services; Stormy Kurtz, SFCC, Gateway to College; and Terri Schibel, Head Start. The three Outstanding Classified Staff honorees are: Charles Robbins, SCC, aviation maintenance; Mary McDaniel, SFCC, testing center; and Brenda Norman, district marketing office. Darlene Rickett, communications instructor at SFCC, received the Deccio Excellence in Equity Award.

Miscellaneous

Spokane County Clerk Tim Fitzgerald has been named Clerk of the Year by the Washington State Association of County Clerks. Fitzgerald spent 30 years in the Marine Corps before he was appointed clerk in April 2014. Since his election to the position in November 2014, Fitzgerald has established after-hours filing options, introduced credit and debit card transactions online and at the counter, and modified scheduling to remain available to the public during the lunch hour. The clerk’s office handles $900,000 in legal financial transactions per month and maintains 169,575 legal records.

Windermere Valley/Liberty Lake has hired Broker Azley Thorpe. She comes to Windermere from Exit Real Estate Professionals.

Utility

Libbey Bartel has been hired by the Pend Oreille County Public Utility District as customer service manager. Bartel comes to the position after managing a medical practice in Vancouver, Washington, for 10 years.
