Cross country roundup: Lewis and Clark wins boys title at Richland Invitational

Richland Invitational: Wil Smith took 11th place at 14 minutes, 57.52 seconds to lead Lewis and Clark to the boys team title at the Max Jensen Richland Invitational at Richland HS on Saturday.

Central Valley placed second, paced by Ryan Kline in sixth (14:49.10) and Gabe Romney (14:53.48) in seventh overall.

North Central took sixth place and Mead was ninth in the 20-team field.

On the girls side, Katie Thronson of Lewis and Clark was first overall at 17:10.54 and North Central took the team title.

Erinn Hill of North Central was second (17:37.57) while three other N.C. runners also placed in the top 10: Allie Janke (fifth), marie Taylor (sixth) and Mia Hill (seventh).

Lewis and Clark was second and Coeur d’Alene placed ninth in the 17-team field.

Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational: Tyler Pena (16:09.9) and Mason Williams (16:16.3) finished 1-2 to lead Medical Lake to the boys team title at the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational at Lake Washington HS.

Cheney’s Bas Holland was third at 16:18.4. The Blackhawks were eighth in a 36-team field. The Cheney girls finished 20th in a 38-team field.

Inland Empire Challenge: Lewiston’s Joey Perez took first place (15:51) to lead the Bengals to the boys team title at the Inland Empire Challenge in Lewiston.

Sandpoint finished third, Asotin fifth, Post Falls sixth, Priest River seventh and Lake City 10th in teh 22-team field.

Post Falls’ Bailey Shanahan placed first (19:04) on the girls side and Sandpoint took the team title. Sandpoint’s Hannah Davidson finished second (19:12) and Sydney Shanahan (PF) was third (19:16).

Post Falls finished third and Lakeland was fifth in the 15-team field.
