The 4A Greater Spokane League race finally heated up on Friday, with Central Valley downing Gonzaga Prep in an old school, ground and pound affair, 24-14.

CV’s Hunter Chodorowski carried 29 times for 180 yards – with a long of just 26 yards, while Prep’s Kasey Anthony and Devin Culp combined for 229 yards on 26 carries.

Across town, Mead – a bit surprisingly – used defense to hold down Mt. Spokane 24-19.

It sets up a battle next week for first place in the GSL 4A between Central Valley and Mead, both 2-0 in league.
