Soccer roundup: Lake City to face Post Falls for berth to girls soccer state

Kali McKellips’ strike in the ninth minute put top-seeded Lake City ahead for good and it cruised to a 5-0 victory over visiting Lewiston in the first round of the Idaho 5A District 1-2 tournament on Saturday.

Annica Wilson assisted on the first goal and scored in the 78th minute for the Timberwolves.

On the other side of the bracket, visiting No. 3 Post Falls topped second-seeded Coeur d’Alene 3-2 in overtime.

On the boys side, No. 1 seed Post Falls beat visiting No. 4 seed Lewiston 6-1, while second-seeded Coeur d’Alene beat visiting No. 3 Lake City 2-0.

The winners in both brackets play on Tuesday for a berth to state, while the loser of those matches will face District 3 fifth place teams in a play-in game.
