Volleyball roundup: Mead sweeps Central Valley; Panthers alone at top of GSL

Mead 3, Central Valley 0: Lindsey Russell dished out 26 assists and visiting Mead swept Central Valley in straight sets (25-9, 25-18, 25-20) on Thursday in a Greater Spokane league match to take sole possession of first place. Paige Wollan finished with nine kills, eight digs and five blocks for the Bears.

University 3, Gonzaga Prep 1: Rachael Schlect notched 29 kills as University (5-1) edged host Gonzaga Prep (5-1) in four sets (22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 27-25). Joli Poplawski added 39 assists and six aces for the Titans. Emily Zink had 25 assists with three aces and Ashlyn O’Keefe added 22 digs and three aces for the Bullpups.

Ferris 3, Lewis and Clark 0: Katelyn Brock had 19 assists with five aces and Ferris (4-3) swept visiting Lewis and Clark (2-5) in straight sets (25-10, 24-26, 19-25).

Great Northern

Pullman 3, Cheney 0: India Rehmani served up 39 assists and visiting Pullman (8-2) cruised to a sweep (25-19, 25-14, 25-19) of Cheney (7-3). Peyton Stark had 15 assists for the Blackhawks.

Clarkston 3, West Valley 2: Eva Millan had 18 kills with 33 digs and visiting Clarkston (2-7) beat West Valley (2-7) in five sets (26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 9-25, 15-6). Jaylynn Buehler dished out 23 assists with two blocks for the Eagles.

Deer Park 3, Medical Lake 0: Taylor Tarble recorded 15 kills with seven digs and visiting Deer Park (5-6) swept Medical Lake (0-12) in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-17). Meghan Nicholas dished out 30 assists with a pair of blocks for the Stags.

Lakeside 3, Newport 0: Lexi Mikkelsen had 14 kills and visiting Lakeside (11-0) swept Newport (6-6) in straight sets (25-21, 25-10, 25-8).

Chewlelah 3, Riverside 0: Krislyn Koler tallied 14 digs with eight kills and Chewelah (5-7) swept visiting Riverside (2-9) in straight sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-18).

Freeman 3, Colville 0: Ailsa Hansen tallied 23 assists with three aces and Freeman (9-2) swept Colville (8-4) in straight sets (25-10, 25-17, 25-20).

Northwest Christian 3, Kettle Falls 0: Abby Lane totaled nine kills with six aces and Northwest Christian (8-0) defeated visiting Kettle Falls (1-7) in three sets (25-9, 25-13, 25-7). Paige Dawson added 12 assists for the Crusaders.

Davenport 3, Springdale 2: Sydney Zeiler had 20 kills with eight digs and Davenport (2-6) beat Springdale (3-5) in five sets (23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-13). Kylene Edwards recorded 25 assists with five aces for the Gorillas.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 3, Reardan 1: Lacy Miller registered 43 assists and Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (5-2) beat visiting Reardan (2-9) in four sets (25-22, 25-20, 30-32, 25-22). Jessie Williams had 20 kills with four blocks for the Indians.

Colfax 3, Liberty 0: Carmen Gfeller recorded 15 kills with nine digs and visiting Colfax (6-0) swept Liberty (5-2) in straight sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-11). Abbie Miller collected eight aces with nine digs for the Bulldogs.

Asotin 3, Tekoa-Rosalia 1: Myka Lee had 23 digs and Asotin (2-4) beat visiting Tekoa-Rosalia (2-5) in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-18). Adrienne Washington added 12 kills for the Panthers.

Wilbur-Creston 3, St. George’s 1: Alicia Johnson dug out 45 digs and Wilbur-Creston (7-1) beat St. George’s (3-5) in four sets (25-22, 27-29, 26-24, 25-20). Jennifer Milbrath dished out 34 assists for the Dragons.

Inchelium 3, Wellpinit 0: Kaylee Seymour tallied seven assists, five aces with a block and visiting Inchelium (4-5) beat Wellpinit (2-6) in straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-22). Christina Cardenflett led Wellpinit with 12 kills, three digs and a block.
