Former Spirit Lake Police Chief Patrick Lawless allegedly drove his Dodge pickup truck into the car of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend Wednesday, according to court documents.

Lawless, who resigned from the police department in 2012 amid a sexual harassment lawsuit, is accused of following his ex-girl-friend and the boyfriend to a Coeur d’Alene home they were looking to potentially buy. He then allegedly drove into her boyfriend’s car, which hit the ex-girlfriend’s SUV.

Nobody was in the vehicles hit during the crash. Court documents note the boyfriend told police that Lawless saw them park, drove by and yelled, “I’m going to kill you.”

Lawless, 42, was charged with felony aggravated battery and second-degree stalking on Thursday.

On Friday, Lawless was charged with felony domestic violence stemming from an incident in August when he allegedly hit his ex-girlfriend.

Lawless’ bond was set at $50,000. If he posts bail, he will be given a no-contact order and will be required to wear a GPS device.

Before being hired by the Spirit Lake Police Department, Lawless was fired from the police department in Ansonia, Connecticut, in 2005. According to the Connecticut Post, Lawless “violated the rules and regulation of the department.”
