Power has been restored to most customers affected by an outage in Airway Heights after a car crashed into a power pole.

U.S. Highway 2 was blocked, and around 300 people were without power for several hours. However, Avista’s outage map showed only a handful of outages by mid-afternoon.

Trooper Jeff Sevigney, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol, said the early morning crash resulted in power lines laying across the roadway near Brooks Road, prompting officials to block the highway in both directions. The closure was lifted after several hours.

According to Avista’s outage map, 303 customers in the area of Deep Creek, and north along Wood Road, were without power starting around 6:15 a.m.

There were no injuries in the crash, Sevigney said.
