Girls soccer roundup: Gracen Crosby’s penalty kick sends University to 4A District 8 Finals

University 3, Mead 2: Gracen Crosby scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute and University edged Mead 3-2 in a Washington 4A District 8 semifinal on Saturday. University heads to the finals against Central Valley on November 4 and Mead drops into the consolation bracket to play Richland on Tuesday.

Central Valley 3, Richland 2: Alyssa Molina scored the game-winning penalty in the shootout and the Bears outlasted Richland 3-2 in a Washington 4A District 8 semifinal. A.J. Crooks recorded three saves in the shootout for the Bears. Central Valley plays University in the district finals on November 4 and Richland plays Mead in the consolation bracket on Tuesday.

Lewis and Clark 3, Walla Walla 0: Paige Malm scored two goals and Lewis and Clark defeated Walla Walla 3-0 in the 4A District 8 consolation tournament. Malm nailed her goals in the 28th and the 75th minute. Ella Magnuson scored the other goal for the Tigers in the 78th minute. Lewis and Clark advances to the next round of the playoffs and will face Mead on Tuesday, with the winner of that game advancing to the state.

Southridge 2, Mt. Spokane 1: Peyton Santos scored the winning goal in the 56th minute off a Reagan Santos assist and Southridge beat Mt. Spokane 2-1 in a Washington 3A District 8 match. The Wildcats will play North Central in the consolation bracket on November 2.

Kamiakin 3, North Central 0: Kahlea Sullivan scored the game-winner 10 minutes into the first half and Kamiakin rolled past North Central 3-0 in a 3A district 8 match. Kamiakin advances to the District 8 Finals while North Central drops into the consolation bracket to play Mt. Spokane on Tuesday.

West Valley 4, Clarkston 3: Chelsea Koker scored two first half goals and the Eagles beat Clarkston 4-3 to advance to the District 7 2A girls soccer championship. In the second half, West Valley scored on an own-goal by Clarkston and an unassisted goal by Abby McConnell to build a 4-2 lead. West Valley will play East Valley for the District 7 Championship on Tuesday at Gonzaga Prep. Clarkston moves on to a winner-to-state, loser-out match on November 4.
